Canada's Blue Jays Earn Fall Classic Showdown Against Los Angeles Dodgers
George Springer previously helped the Astros securing the World Series in 2017.
Canada's MLB team earned a spot in their initial World Series following 1993 by overcoming the Seattle Mariners in the final seventh game of the AL Championship Series.
Down 3-1, outfielder George Springer smashed a three-run homer in the seventh inning, leading the only Canadian franchise in MLB to a 4-3 win in the seven-game series. They will now face the defending champions, who are the defending champions, in the forthcoming World Series.
"I'm thrilled for everyone here, our city, Canada," commented Springer, a key player of the Houston Astros team that secured the 2017 World Series. "It's truly an amazing experience."
The veteran has now hit 23 post-season home runs, ranking him third all-time after Manny Ramirez (twenty-nine) and Altuve (27).
"There's probably not another person anywhere that I'd choose in that situation other than George Springer with his October magic," said Blue Jays manager John Schneider.
Seattle, after leading the series two games to none and three games to two, continue to be the sole team that has never reached in a World Series.
Manager Dan Wilson stated "certainly that it's going to sting" following his team's loss at their home ballpark, but commended their efforts in the campaign.
"They're an exceptional squad. Sadly that we ended up on the unsuccessful side of this game," he remarked.
The Blue Jays secured the World Series on both previous visits in 1992 and 1993, and will welcome the Dodgers in the first game on Friday.
