England Coach Southee Unsure on The Ashes Availability

Tim Southee

Tim Southee's most recent Test for the Kiwis was versus England in the final month of 2024.

England bowling consultant Southee is currently evaluating what his involvement will be at the forthcoming Ashes series in the host nation.

The former New Zealand seamer is only likely to be present for the opening match because of his involvement in the International League T20 competition, which begins on December 2 in the United Arab Emirates.

Southee, 36, took up a position as the English team's pace bowling advisor in the warmer months after taking 391 scalps in 107 Test matches for New Zealand.

Speaking as England's squad for the first of three Twenty20 games against the Kiwis was named, he stated of his participation: "We're still working through the situation at the moment.

"We will determine what happens over the next little while."

English bowling legend Broad had stated the Australian side as their "worst team since 2010", but the consultant was in little doubt over the anticipated challenge during the contest, which begins on November 21.

"In my view there's ever a poor Aussie side," Southee said.

"The team's attention is squarely on what we're trying to do. I think the caliber of [England's] team that's heading out to Australia is excellent.

"It should be an absolute cracker, the Ashes. Not only [are|do] fans from both nations eagerly anticipate it, I believe the whole cricket world is."

However, prior to England head to the city of Perth for the opening Ashes Test, they face New Zealand in Christchurch on this Saturday.
