Tehran reports attacking a American military facility in Bahrain, as the country executed missile attacks throughout the Middle East in response for a "massive" and continuing assault targeting the nation by the United States and Israeli forces.

Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an zone close to the command center of the American Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The full scale of any damage is unclear and the US has yet to issue a statement.

Regional Interceptions

Elsewhere across the region, the UAE, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - which all house American military installations - reported they have intercepted missiles in their air space.

In the Qatari capital, the Qatari Ministry of Defence announced it had intercepted a number of projectiles apparently targeting the Al Udeid Air Base, the biggest US military installation in the Middle East.

Iran's Declared Retaliation

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard said in a statement it was targeting US bases and assets as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the strikes on Iran initiated by the US and Israel on Saturday.

That initial attack - launched at around 06:15 GMT - has so far targeted areas linked to the Iranian leadership, with President Trump urging the people of Iran to revolt against the leadership.

Wider Impacts

In Israel, air raid sirens sounded across the country after the Israeli military reported it had detected an incoming Iranian missile barrage.

The Ministry of Defence of the United Arab Emirates stated that the nation has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"Emirati air defenses responded to the missiles with notable success and shot down a series of missiles," it added.

It said missile fragments landed in a neighborhood in the capital, causing some structural damage and killing a civilian.

The United States Air Force is stationed at the Al Dhafra base, south of Abu Dhabi, along with the UAE Air Force.
