Recent Particulars Emerge Regarding the Discovery of the Bodies of Rob and Michele Reiner Bodies
Fresh particulars have surfaced concerning the tragic deaths of renowned filmmaker Rob Reiner and visual artist Michele Singer Reiner, whose bodies were found at their residence residence on Sunday.
A Discovery
As detailed in an account referencing a confidential source, a therapist scheduled for an appointment first raised the alarm after not being able to enter the house. The therapist then reached out to the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who lives in the vicinity.
When she went into the home, Romy came upon her father's body. It is said she then left the home distraught, unaware at that moment that her mother's body was also inside. Another individual who had accompanied her contacted 911. Following this, first responders discovered Michele Singer Reiner's body.
Legal Developments
Authorities have formally accused the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with the charges of first-degree murder, including the charge related to a weapon, said to be a knife. He is now detained and is ineligible for bail.
Clarifications
The anonymous source questioned several initial details. It was stated that while Romy Reiner informed emergency responders that her brother Nick resided in a separate structure on the estate, she did not identify him as a suspect at that moment.
The source also refuted widely reported suggestions that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been especially "concerned" about Nick's behavior in the weeks leading up to the incident. Instead the family was "accustomed to working through [Nick's] problems together."
This correction applies to reports of reportedly "erratic" behavior by Nick at a gathering thrown by Conan O'Brien on the night before the tragedy. While the source said they were not in a position to confirm whether Rob had "chastised" his son at the party, they said that claims of a "blow-up" between the two were not correct.
Ongoing Inquiry Timeline
Per law enforcement officials, the coroner had not yet established at that point whether the Reiners died Saturday night or on Sunday. Some accounts suggested the state of their bodies implied they had been deceased for some hours.
Nick Reiner was arrested at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the Exposition Park area, some 15 miles from the scene. He was set to be arraigned on Tuesday, but his attorney, Alan Jackson, indicated his client had not been medically cleared and would be unable to attend until no sooner than Wednesday.
