Renowned Performer Pat Finn, a versatile actor, Recognized For Roles in Friends and The Middle, Dies at 60 Years Old.
Stateside actor Pat Finn, who appeared in popular television series such as Friends, Seinfeld and The Middle, has died aged 60.
The comedic improv actor died at home in Los Angeles this Monday after undergoing treatment for cancer since 2022, as reported by reports.
"Pat never met a stranger - just potential friends he hadn't encountered," his family stated in a statement.
They continued that he had "lived his life fully - with joy and exuberance".
An Extensive TV Career
His debut TV appearance was on the George Wendt Show in the mid-90s, where he portrayed the lead character's sibling.
He subsequently landed a repeating character on "Murphy Brown" between 1995 and 1997.
He appeared as a party host named Joe Mayo in "Seinfeld" in the late 90s, playing a social organizer who would assign tedious tasks to his guests.
In the late 1990s and early 2000s, he made guest appearances on a variety of popular shows, including:
- King of Queens
- Friends
- "That '70s Show"
- House
His most famous role for his portrayal of Bill Norwood in "The Middle", starring in eight seasons of the show over nearly a decade.
His film credits are "It's Complicated" and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups (2012).
A Life in Improv
Away from his acting parts, Finn was a skilled improviser and also taught at the University of Colorado, where he was a faculty member.
He was part of a comedy group of six named Beer Shark Mice.
"Finn taught, supported, and inspired many learners during his career and you'd be hard-pressed to find a person anywhere who has a bad thing to say about him," his family wrote.
Offering condolences, colleague and actor Richard Kind remarked there was "nobody more kind, gentle, and humorous, down to earth person you could encounter".
"Always positive, assisting others to improve and be funnier. A wonderful father and man," he shared on social media.
Pat Finn is remembered by his partner Donna, his children, and his family.
