Slot Asserts He Is Secure and Retains The Club's Support After PSV Eindhoven Loss
Arne Slot admitted that it's understandable for doubts to be asked about his future after another convincing defeat against PSV Eindhoven.
Liverpool suffered their ninth loss in 12 matches, marking the club's worst streak since being relegated in the 1953-54 season.
They were taken apart by the Dutch league champions on a punishing evening at Anfield.
âI'm confident, things are alright, I have got significant backing from above,â Slot commented.
âIt's important to turn it around and earn three points obviously but when you're coaching a team and not doing well then it is normal that questions are asked.â
He noted, âI'm comfortable with my role. It is not the first time I've found myself in a difficult position but it's necessary that we changed our fortunes.â
Discussions with Liverpool Hierarchy
Upon being questioned to provide details on his dialogues with the team officials, Slot revealed:
âWe communicate frequently. They are supportive to the team and to me and we discuss these matters but they don't phone me every single minute each day to say they trust me.â
He added, âThrough standard discussions I sense the trust. However I havenât spoken to them since this match so far so it remains to be seen.â
Persistent Issues and Player Reaction
Slot highlighted recurring shortcomings from his Liverpool side in their European defeat, specifically wasted chances and leaking goals.
Meanwhile, player Curtis Jones was blunter in his assessment of the current crisis.
âI haven't got the answers. Honestly, I do not. Iâm saying that to everyone,â Jones remarked.
âItâs just not good enough. I donât even have to wait to think about it. Iâm past getting mad internally. Iâm at the point currently where I just donât have the vocabulary.â
He added, âIt's difficult because Iâm playing for the team I support. I'm a supporter, and I've watched this club all my life.â
âFor many years, I've not seen a Liverpool team enduring a period of this nature with performances this poor.â
Jones finished, âBut we continue to wear that badge on our shirts. And until that badge is taken away, weâre always going to compete.â
âWeâre going to try to help the side return to where it needs to be, show everyone once more what this club is about and why people call it the greatest side in the planet.â
âBut right now, things are bad and we have to turn it around.â
