The Details Known About the Those Lost of the Bondi Beach Terror Attack
No fewer than 16 lives were killed and more than 40 were hurt when assailants fired on a Hanukkah gathering at Bondi Beach, an incident local police are describing as a terrorist attack.
As of the newest reports, authorities have announced the number of fatalities remains at 16, which includes one of the suspected attackers. Moreover, 42 people with injuries were taken to medical facilities.
The victims are still awaiting publicly named, but police believe their ages span between 10 and 87 years old.

Eli Schlanger
Originally from London rabbi Eli Schlanger, 41, was initially identified.
Known as a father-of-five, he was the assistant rabbi at Chabad of Bondi. Family members and friends described him as âlively, dynamic, and vibrant and a very warm outgoing person who loved to help peopleâ.
âHow is it possible that a happy rabbi who went to a beach to share joy and positivity, to make the world a better place, meet his end in this way?â a relative remarked.
Schlanger and his wife celebrated the arrival of their newest son in October.
Alexander Kleytman
Alexander Kleytman was also among those killed, as stated by his wife.
She recounted the events leading up to the shooting, saying they were standing when the shooting started. âHe shielded me because he wished to be near me,â she said.
The couple were both Holocaust survivors, having endured immense hardship in their youth. They had subsequently immigrated to Australia from Ukraine.
Dan Elkayam
The French foreign ministry have announced that French man Dan Elkayam is among the victims.
Publicly, a senior official declared that France mourned with his family and loved ones, the Jewish community, and the Australian people.
âThis low act is a fresh and tragic example of a revolting outpouring of hatred against Jews that we must put a stop to,â the message continued.
One Child
A young girl, aged 10 who was rushed to the a children's hospital succumbed to her injuries, according to police reports.
One Israeli Citizen
An Israeli citizen was a fatality in the incident, according to reports referencing the Israeli government.
Those Injured
Of the 42 people taken to hospitals, a significant number are still under care, with several in critical condition. The injured comprise two police officers who attended the scene.
A casualty is a bystander who attempted to intervene to confront one of the attackers. Described as a local hero, he sustained bullet wounds but is recovering well in hospital.
Arsen Ostrovsky
One of those wounded is Arsen Ostrovsky, a community leader. It has been reported he was hurt and is receiving treatment in hospital.
In a message, he recounted the incident as an âabsolute bloodbath,â but also praised the actions of those who rushed to help. He said he felt it was a âmiracleâ he survived.
Evan Zlatkis
Evan Zlatkis, a media director, was another casualty in the shooting. He told reporters he heard âa large numberâ of gunshots.
âI thought it was something less lethal, but it penetrated my own skin and into my leg,â he stated. âI sustained a gunshot wound. They bandaged me up. Iâm ok.â
