The network's Leading New Show of 2025 Gets a Significant Renewal for Seasons 2 and 3.

During the fall season, the late-night programming block debuted a new season of its unconventional hit, Smiling Friends. Yet, shortly thereafter, the network launched a brand-new animated series with a strikingly different tone. Haha, You Clowns emerged as sweet and soothing, reminiscent of a animated take of a serene talk show. At a time often defined by bleakness, this show's earnestness struck a chord and propelled it a breakout hit.

A Significant Investment

On December 18th, Adult Swim revealed exciting news: Haha, You Clowns has been greenlit for two more seasons. This provides showrunner Joe Cappa a massive runway to develop the world of the Campbell family. The show centers on three well-mannered teenage brothers whose defining trait is their strong bond for their single father, with Cappa voicing for all four key characters.

"My deepest thanks go to the viewers of the show who took a chance on the show and shared it with others," stated Cappa. "I am overjoyed that I get to spend more time in the Campbell household for seasons to come."

Network Praise

Accompanying the news commendation from Adult Swim president Michael Ouweleen, who described the series as "profoundly sincere and strangely uncanny." He thanked the fans who embraced the show and supported its uniquely offbeat appeal.

"All of you got behind this new show, rooted for it on social media, and helped it grow week over week so we could greenlight not one, but two more seasons," noted Ouweleen. "As the show says: 'You are strong! You are loved!'"

A Different Kind of Comedy

When it first aired, Haha, You Clowns was praised as "a gentle counterpart" to other adult animated fare. It offers something deeply soothing about following this lovable family navigate their everyday routines.

Previously, creator Joe Cappa expressed his desire to move the comedy genre beyond its prevailing layer of irony. He traced this trend to a broader media landscape.

“There's this level of irony that we can't get ourselves out of,” noted Cappa. “It feels as if we have to know we’re the smartest person in the room when we're watching stuff. I feel like we've been doing this for too long, and we need to laugh at something different now. It's time for comedy to grow.”

Future Seasons

Given this two-season order, with Haha, You Clowns set to continue, Cappa may well help usher in that very evolution. If nothing else, the renewal promises audiences more opportunities to experience the heartfelt moments of the beloved Campbell clan.

The final episode of Season 1 of Haha, You Clowns airs on December 21st. All episodes is available for streaming on HBO Max.
