The Reform UK leader Claims Educators of ‘Poisoning Our Kids’ on Racial Topics

The political figure stated that teachers would go on strike within weeks a success at the polls for his party, accusing them of “harming young minds” by telling children that African-Caribbean youth are oppressed and Caucasian students are perpetrators.

During an event for a private US Christian college, the politician expressed his viewpoint on British schools, stating that the “Marxist left” had “taken over schooling”.

“I expect a teachers’ strike very quickly after securing a victory,” Farage commented during a Q&A session.

“They are corrupting young minds. They instruct children to be ashamed of their country. They are telling little Johnny, who’s eight, who is black that he is oppressed and a white child of the same age that he is an oppressor. They are dividing us, instead of fostering unity. They are feeding this harmful mindset.”

In response to Farage’s claims, Daniel Kebede dismissed the notion that the education system was controlled by Marxists as “absurd”. Kebede noted that any strikes must relate to educators’ working conditions, and questioned whether Reform would attack these immediately upon entering government.

“The politician has crafted his public life on dog-whistle politics and currently, similar to other figures, he is targeting educators and their unions for a fight,” Kebede stated.

“This is highly reckless. I don’t – and nor does my union – advocate such divisive theories as he claims … If he were to lead the government he would sell out our public services, including education … and he would be a disaster for education and children.”

The party, which tops surveys by a significant margin, has provided limited specifics on a proposed education policy and seems not to have designated an education lead.

Nonetheless, his comments indicated the group would reform the system and the curriculum. He said: “We face an enormous task with education – truly monumental. Moreover, it won’t happen quickly; it will take us years, years to turn this around.”

He stated that gen Z was more open to critical thinking, but older youth were “completely lost”.

Paying tribute to a conservative activist, he commented: “All I want education to do to teach critical thinking – to educate individuals that there are two points of view and you make up your own mind as opposed to current practices where one is virtuous and one is evil. It’s a massive job in the UK and US.”

Reform has previously clashed with a major educators’ organization, after Kebede called the party “far right and racist” and dismissed Farage as “a poundshop Donald Trump”.

The politician has charged Kebede of being “a self-declared Marxist” … someone who is absolutely determined that our children should be poisoned at school, their minds should be poisoned regarding national issues” and has argued that the union is trying to indoctrinate youth opposed to his party.

Almost one million people are employed in education in the UK, about half of whom are teachers and the remainder being assistants and administrative personnel. The major education union has hundreds of thousands of members.

National strikes over educators’ salaries and work environment in 2023 caused widespread disruption in educational institutions and extensive missed instruction for students.

During the American gathering, the Reform leader also vowed to promote the digital courses of the institution in the UK. He said such groups were “part of the fightback”, adding that: “I am serious. I will help garner hundreds of thousands, if not millions of young people to these educational programs. I make that commitment now and I’ll do that.”

The college, a small private Christian college, offers free courses. Its website states: “A scientific, literary, theological, political, and moral education is vital for well-being and to perpetuate the blessings of freedom. The college furnishes these beautiful courses for free to all who wish to learn.”
